Ook al is het Myofasciaal Pijn Syndroom geen levensbedreigende aandoening en is er, mede daardoor, weinig financiële ruimte voor wetenschappelijk onderzoek. Toch verschijnen er regelmatig publicaties die Spieren in relatie brengen met veel voorkomende pijnklachten en diagnosen.
